I want to be a good swimmer just like you.
Thank you. Keep swimming!
A follow up to yesterday’s resistance exercise for swimmers are 3 bodyweight exercises of similar patterns. Split stance broad jump for developing asymmetrical stance and swim start power, a suspension strap row to overhead reach for pulling power and stability overhead, and push ups plus for improved upward rotation of the shoulder blade enhancing overhead reach.

"i went from europe to africa and crossed the sea!" "what boat did you use" "me"
👏
thats amazing. but isnt it even more exhuasting because youre having to increase your stroke count to compensate?
Yes, it is a higher stroke count, and likely more exhausting, but that's part of the benefit. You will become more efficient the more you do it, but it's also helpful for improving tempo.
Okay I'm going to practice and believe I will one day do it effortlessly. Thank you sir.
Yes, you will become more efficient the more you practice. have fun
Calling all swimmers! 🏊♂️ Backstroke and complementary shoulder exercises, like Indian club rotations, are essential for balancing out the repetitive motions of competitive strokes, especially freestyle. Don’t forget to mix in alternative strokes in the pool, and complimentary exercises to your dryland plan for variability and muscular balance.
Is that Natami?
not that Im familiar with
Sharing with all my Special Warfare friends. Awesome page with great exercises and great demonstrations.
Thanks for sharing. Hope it helps
What is the function of this exercise? Looks promising for stretching and starting the lawn mower😂
hip internal rotation, thoracic rotation, used in things like swimming, throwing, kicking, and indirectly for many movements. funny enough, starting a lawn mower can be demanding, and is a great example of hip and shoulder rotation and power
I need to learn how to tread water for 2 minutes hands above water for my job in the military. What are some dry land exercises I can do in the meantime
Id spend most of your time focusing on technique and fitness of treading. squats and single leg exercises may help a little - front loaded in the goblet position to mimic the load of hands above water
I love swimming but none of them works i keep sinking also im young so idk..
Can you describe your challenges more? Have a coach take a look.
☝🏼
thanks, Christine!
Thx i won my swimming completion
congrats!
Uhhhh... Don't know if that's good for the equipment dude. If you know this and know that people will comment on this. Then we'll played. Couldn't resist.
whats not good for the equipment??
Plan to come to USA at some point and do an open water road trip doing open water events along the way. It's an awesome way of seeing a place. The swims in USA look good. Just done Esbjerg open water in Denmark and the Cotswold Big Swim here in the UK. Got a few local (UK) swims lined up. Most in the sea. Brrr.
That sounds great. Traveling to swim is a great way to see the world. Let us know when you’re in nyc
I thought the video was named “Kayak Support” so I found it very confusing until I watched it again 😂
Thanks for watching
What it’s like racing open water in the Hudson River in New York City with @urbanswim 1.5mi open water river swim to kick off open water swimming season. Swimmers, what events do you have planned this season? Who wants to swim in NYC!?
Do I have to relax
it should be fairly relaxed, once you get the hang of it. Could likely be much slower than the tempo here. Try leaning back a little, and keeping your lungs full of air for better buoyancy
How to take breath during water trade? Because I have seen many people chit-chatting during the water trading
at first, it may be best to lean back, face to the sky to breathe. As you get better, you will be able to comfortably keep your head above water, talk and tread. A big lunge full of air, with quick sips of air in and out, helps with buoyancy
Okay, Thank you for your guidance 😊
What
💪
THIS HELPED ME SO MUCHH
Glad it’s helpful
I have trouble doing breastroke kick 🙁 any tips please?
Have a coach take a look, get some video, and see what you need to specifically focus on
i just doggy pattle 😬😬
The other important - actually, very important - aspect of exercising and training: Your reflexology will get better and better, it also serves as a shield for your body safety.
Yes, my other training and activities saved me here!
I am able to tread water with very little effort while keeping my head tilted backwards and my chin level with the water ....They seem to use alot of leg movements in this tutorial
There are many ways to tread. Your suggestion is a great low effort way to tread. Nice work
@@traindaly I'll be honest ....I go swimming 3-5 times a week now so I just managed to improve the technique....I've only really had my confidence back 2 years now ....Before that I was rarely in the water but now it's kinda of a passion but I don't do it as a professional just as a healthy activity.
@@peterah7957 wel done. The treading technique you are suggesting is very efficient and best for a beginner. What Im showing here may be more of an energetic tread you'd see in water polo or other activities. Thanks for sharing. Keep swimming
@@traindaly That makes sense now you have explained it thanks 👍
Bad method
What would you change and why?
Swimmers, triathletes, what mistakes have learned from racing? 🏊♀️ 🚴🏿 🏃🏼♂️💪 Don’t make the same mistakes I did in your next event. Practice in the gear you’re going to race with. Inspect it prior and have some back ups. Practice and train for the race skills, scenarios, and paces. Review the course ahead of time and attend the athlete meeting. Plan for the worst, hope for the best, and have fun. On race day the only thing you can control is your attitude and effort.
A good flutter kick should align with the body at the surface to propel you straight ahead. Picture your legs inside a rectangular box: straight, initiated from the hip, rippling with a soft knee and pointed toe, like kicking a ball. Boiling white water at the surface is perfect. Splashy kicks often mean bent knees, kicking air more than water. If your feet are too deep, the water's resistance slows your tempo, and the depth may push you up more than forward. Practice with and without fins and a board at the surface. Add dedicated kicking sets or swim sets with specific kick tempos to improve your technique and performance.
In this seated position, when I move my shoe towards the other shoe…..I have high up groin pain.
Sorry to hear that. If you have groin pain, I’d consult a physical therapist.
The kettlebell is the gym in your hand, a versatile low footprint equipment to improve a swimmers mobility, strength, and power. These 3 shoulder drills should be a staple in any swimmers dryland program looking for healthy functional shoulders that can hold up to speed and volume training. Which ones have you tried?
Finish your stroke, swim faster, get summer arms 💪🏊♀️🏊♂️ The finish in your stroke is more of a push than a pull Exercises that encourage pushing your arm straight help accelerate your hand speed Elbow extension exercises help improve the feel of this motion in the triceps, increases the force you create in the water, and helps develop nice arms!
I have a question, is it possible to practice swimming using side mounted snorkel instead of front mounted ones?
You could try. It may not have a purge valve and may also feel like more drag hanging from the side instead of centered and streamlined in the front. In fact at faster speeds it may move and shake
Swimmers, don’t you struggle to swim straight? Check your mobility, and add more drills that reinforce a stable shoulder with a mobile spine, improving your ability to hold streamline while you pull, reach and rotate into your next stroke. Try these drills before your next swim, and twice per week for the next month.
That’s not how you egg beater
What’s not?
@@traindaly you did egg beater wrong your legs were to straight it’s supposed to be like your sitting in a chair
@@pPmAn475 thanks for the tip
@@traindalyif you look up how to egg beater and watch the video by Peter somthing he’ll show the correct form
@@pPmAn475thank you 😃
BUTTERFLY 🦋
yes!
thanks, I think the words "eggbeater style" will really help me when I'm in the water
Yes good visual. Hope it helps
What is this exercise called?
kettlebell armbar
most beginners arent fit enough traed vertically like this so better to float on back with small sweep hand movements
Yes, some may not be able to start here. When you are ready, here are a few tips
Working on aerobic intervals and sighting drills for open water and triathlon swim season. Swimmers, what helps you with sighting and staying on course swimming in open water?
❤ never seen this style of swimming ❤
It’s just a freestyle drill
Build aerobic base and then heavy sprint and lactic work for improving speed and power
smart plan
What should be the size of stability ball
these are general height recommendations Height: Under 4'8” » Ball size: 45 cm/18” Height: 4'8 to 5'3” » Ball size: 55 cm/22” Height: 5'4” to 5'10” » Ball size: 65 cm/26” Height: 5'11” to 6'4” » Ball size: 75 cm/30” Height: 6'4” and up » Ball size: 85 cm/34
so i HAVE to move at 8'x speed or can i just move normally?😅
Play with your tempo
Swimmers, you have 1 year to shave 15 seconds off your average 100 pace. What do you do? If you're an age group swimmer, masters swimmer, open water swimmer, or triathlete swimmer aiming to make a certain cut, qualify for an event, place in your age group, or get recruited by a certain school, what do you focus on to make a big drop in time? What training focuses can successful swimmers share with swimmers looking to achieve their goals? Swimmers, let's hear your strategies!
The breast stroke kick, seems to be the most efficient.
it can be, the egg beater kick is a version of breaststroke, but has a better ebb and flow or contract/relax with the alternating legs
2 resistance training sessions per week to offset muscle loss during higher volume swim training and to maintain strength progress. Reduce sets and reps with a focus on heavier loads and greater speeds to minimize additional training stress and maximize sustained force and power in the water. Full body training to support muscular balance, reducing swimming related imbalances, repetitive stress and injury risk. #openwaterswimming #openwaterswimmer #openwaterswim #triathlon #marathonswimming #wildswimming

swimmers need a lot of rotational work. Resisting it while loading your shoulders and hips is a good starting point. Work on yours with these pool and gym drills #traindaly #strengthtrainingforswimmers #drylandtrainingforswimming #coretraining #swimming
Most of the videos they be in deep water like you think a beginner will even try it
Probably not for beginners if you cant tread a little in deep water already
@@traindaly I'm 6'1", but my gym's pool only goes to a little more than 4 ft. How do I practice treading water in water so shallow. P.S. I can't swim, period. Trying to learn.
@@teeoh9192 treading in water that shallow, especially as tall as you are is hard. I wouldn't necessarily start someone who cant swim with treading, Id work more on floating face down and on your back, and teaching the freestyle and safety positions. You might find treading comes more natural after learning how to swim at the surface first.
